Blekinge Institute of Technology

At Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) education and research are of a very high international standard and learning is the focal point for student, teacher and researcher alike. We are the most distinctly profiled university in Sweden, with a clear focus on Applied IT and Sustainable Development of Industry and Society.

Modern information technology has not only permeated every professional area but also the day-to-day life and leisure time of each human being. IT is everywhere and the future for our students is not only to be found in the IT industry but also in the advanced engineering industry, the growing electronic games industry, in commerce, in the service sector, such as insurance companies and banks, and in the public sector, such as county councils and municipal authorities. Despite our enormous breadth our cutting edge is in advanced computer science, software technology, telecommunications and signal processing.

The sustainable development of industry and society is something you will encounter in both education and research, illustrating methodically how sustainable development is built up in various subject areas, such as mechanical engineering and spatial planning. The social perspective and application perspective can also be seen in how the course programmes, which include extensive project work at companies.

BTH is a broad-based university of technology. Business administration, social sciences, the humanities and health sciences are obviously influenced by the Applied IT profile, resulting in a fruitful meeting between the humanities and technology.
